Jeanne Stanberg, 57, is shot and killed.

A clerk in a liquor store on Bowdoin Street, Stanberg is killed during a robbery by two 17-year olds. The robbers, unable to open the cash register, get away with a jar full of change from donations to the Easter Seals program. But they drop the jar and it breaks on the sidewalk as they flee.
